Welcome back to Cambridge. I hope you have all had a relaxing holiday, as far as possible with exams looming. Regardless of your current feelings about exams, the Law Society has something to offer to help you through Easter- on both the academic and social side.
On the academic end, I am delighted to announce that we have re-introduced our ever-popular revision sessions. This will be an opportunity for law students from different colleges to come together and discuss tricky areas of law over drinks and nibbles. Keep an eye out for emails of these sessions in due course.
I am delighted to introduce Anjalie Shouri and Tassia McAdam as our new social secretaries. In a departure from tradition, the Committee and I have decided to plan an extensive socials calendar for Easter in an effort to provide our members with a much needed break from revision. Our first event, President’s Drinks, is set to be a fantastic social. This year it will be themed ‘Keep Calm’ to help you relax and enjoy yourself in the run up to exams. It will also be my second President’s Drinks and I very much hope to see you all there. We are also delighted to host ‘Burritos and Mojitos’ which is kindly sponsored by Berwin Leighton Paisner as well as Tapas and Sangria which is kindly sponsored by Travers Smith as new additions to our Easter socials calendar.
The annual Law Society Garden Party is inevitable going to be the highlight of many a May Week. Held on the 17th of June, the beautiful gardens of Sidney Sussex will be transformed for an afternoon of fabulous food, generous drinks. After selling out in a record 10 minutes last year we expect this year’s party to sell out as fast. Look out for emails about the event at the start of term.
I would like to thank the outgoing committee for their fantastic work over the last three terms. Our Law Ball was the best yet and our socials sold out quicker than ever before. I hope our committee can live upto the high expectations that have been set. Finally, I would like to thank you- our members for your constant feedback and engagement with the society. Each year brings in new improvements to the society and I am confident that the next one will too. With best wishes for a fantastic easter term.
