Careers

CULS works closely with leading city law firms and barrister chambers to help our members to choose the right legal career path. In the past we have organised various events where members were give the opportunity to meet representatives from leading international law firms and talk to current trainees on what it is like to work in the City.

Some of the firms that we have worked with include Allen and Overy, Freshfields, Slaughter and May, Essex Court Chambers and many more. If you are interested in applying for vacation schemes, training contracts or pupillages, please check our website and newsletters regularly for upcoming events.

Events lined up for Lent 2012:

Cleary Gottlieb Presentation and Cocktails
Wednesday 25th January, 7pm, The Vaults, 14A Trinity Street

In today's highly competitive legal job market it is not enough to have a solid academic background. Recruiters are looking for more, and with so many applicants to choose from there is an incredible amount of pressure on students to impress when searching for training contracts. The importance of vacation schemes has therefore increased as an opportunity for candidates to identify the type of practice that best suits them, from the plethora of firms and practice areas available, whilst at the same time adding invaluable experience to your cv and confirming your commitment to a career in law.

At Cleary, Gottlieb we are offering you the opportunity to learn some useful tips on how to prepare and apply for vacation schemes as well as what you should aim to gain from the schemes themselves. We invite you to join us on Wednesday 25 January at The Vaults, Cambridge for an information presentation and an opportunity to speak to our partners, associates and trainees about enhancing your prospects of obtaining a vacation scheme and training contract over cocktails.
