 International treaties and the Law of the Sea

As the United States Senate considers ratification of the Treaty of the Law of the Sea over 20 years after signing it, the first president of the International Tribunal for the Law of the sea, Thomas Mensah, will address the Society. Talking about the vital role treaties have in International Law, and the impact of major powers cooperating, his talk will be essential for anyone studying International Law, and a fascinating experience for everyone else!

Lt Col. Mercer and the Army Legal Service

Listen to the invidual who advised the military command during the invasion of Iraq in 2003 talk about the Court Martial legal system, and his vocational experience practising International Law in the Army. Sure to be controversial, this speaker will be a perfect compliment to the latest Per Incuriam's feature on the Army Legal Services.

Human Rights Law in Zimbabwe

Senator David Coltart, a member of the Zimbabwean MDC party and Human Rights Lawyer, will be giving an address on how Human Rights law exists, is needed and develops in his country. Having addressed various international legal conferences, including the AGM of the Bar Council of England and Wales, Senator Coltart's visit from Zimbabwe will be an absolute must-see this term!
