Trainee Profile

Given the diversity of our practice areas and clients, Denton Wilde Sapte needs people with diverse skills, aptitudes, backgrounds and personalities. The firm looks for candidates from any degree discipline with a strong academic and extra curricular record of achievement. As well as being good team players, our trainees need excellent interpersonal skills and the flexibility to grow with the firm. Languages are an advantage, but not essential.

Training Environment

As a trainee, you will undertake four six-month seats, including at least one transactional and one contentious seat. Most trainees also spend one seat in the Banking and Finance and/or Real Estate department dealing with a wide range of work. We aim to offer trainees as much choice as possible with their seats, one of which may be spent in one of our international offices or with one of our clients. The most popular seats will of course always be in demand!

Vacation Placements

We hold open days for non-law students in December, an open day for first year law students in April and summer vacation schemes for law students in July.

These events enable students to gain an insight into commercial law and the experience of life as a trainee within Denton Wilde Sapte. Our open days and summer schemes are an opportunity for you to see us as a firm, to answer your questions regarding commercial law and your career as a trainee. The events provide a full and rounded insight through business games, department talks and visits that should assist you when having to make those difficult decisions about which firm you feel suited to and want to train with.
